I loved the lobster Bisque and the Clam chowder. The bartenders at the top floor were so knowledgable about the food too, which I like. I'm sorry we ddn't go back for lunch or dinner but we will definitely go back next time we're in Newport. They only thing we didn't like was the fact that they use carrot juice in the Bloody Mary . Great service and great food though.

My wife and I met one of my college roommates and his wife in Newport for dinner and I chose Fluke mostly based on the Yelp reviews and its general convenient location.  We weren't disappointed.

They had an almost overwhelming selection of drinks so I chose a caipirinha to start then moved over to Guinness.  Note to the otherwise great waitress, when you tell me you have Guinness my assumption is that it's on tap.  If it's not on tap, let me know.  And for Heaven's sake don't serve it to me in a pilsner glass!

OK, that mistake aside the food was great.  My wife and friend got the crab cakes.  My wife said they weren't quite as good as Legal Seafood's version (which she feels is the benchmark) but were good nonetheless.  My friends wife had the grilled swordfish which came with spinach and butternut squash and I had a seafood paella which was fantastic.

We would have had a nice harbor view if the fog hadn't rolled in so aggressively at dusk, but I can't blame Fluke for that.  Overall it was a great experience.

Fluke are voracious bottom dwelling flatfish, bigger and toothier than their smaller cousin the flounder.  Being migrants to Newport from June through September, yet considered locals at the same time, we are kindred spirits.  And boy are they delicious!  When a friend suggested our group check out Fluke for cocktails after a disappointing dinner elsewhere, I was hoping the experience would be as rewarding as catching the real thing in Narragansett Sound.

Sure enough, the establishment lived up to their name-sake.  The cocktail menu stretches the limits of imagination.  Everything is mixed with freshly squeezed juices of all citrus varieties (and rhubarb, really? yes), and the muddling is befuddling: lemon verbena? ginger? are you kidding?  I envy those bartenders.  I could have stayed for hours, days even, conjuring dreamy concoctions, though descending from their lofty 3rd floor perch would be quite a challenge.

Given the memorable drinks, I jumped at the opportunity to try dinner several weeks later with a group of 6.  Comfortably seated at a corner table by the bar, the onslaught of appetizers began, the most memorable being snacks of dates and the freshest olives I've tasted, the least our small plate of calamari.  The native striped bass was broiled to a perfect medium slightly rare, and the fennel roasted red pepper and basil pesto served an interesting accompaniment. Some of our party had to settle on second choices as certain items were sold out, but were not disappointed.  The only real disappointment I suffered was the verdicchio, which was a tinnier whimpier version of the nutty full bodied Italian white I'm accustomed to.  The waitstaff kept pace with boisterous lively crew demonstrating occasional cult-ish qualities.

Fluke gets 5 stars for its drinks and 4 for its fare, and since halves aren't allowed, I'm rounding up for the name,

This place is fantastic!!  The drinks are to die for and I love that they are doing pink specialty drinks this month for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Sit at the top bar and watch the sunset.

My husband and I went there for a "date night" (no baby with us!)and really enjoyed it!
We sat at the bar at the very top, very warm , cozy and romantic. Nice big window up there which I'm sure had a view but it was dark outside and I couldn't tell for sure.

We enjoyed the drinks (loved my drink recommendation by the bartender!) and split some some of the small plates together while in the bar where we focused more on conversation more than eating. Nonetheless, it was a great experience and if we still lived in Newport I'd definitely go back for another wonderful experience.

This restaurant was great!!!!!!!!!!!  Went to Newport for the weekend and met up with some friends for dinner at fluke.  We had arrived at the restaurant fairly late and we were worried about being able to be sat but the host staff was very friendly and helpful and did not hesitate to seat our party.  The atmosphere was nice and beach casual.  Romantic place to go with a date or with a small group of friends. Service was great, our waitress was very professional but also very personable. I had a glass of Kung Fu Girl Riesling which was very good.  We had a salad and scallops for appetizers. My dinner was delicious and simply seasoned; seared flounder with polenta and spinach.  My friend had a delicious crab cake dinner that was full of crab meat. Overall I loved the place loved the food and drink service, one of my top restaurants in Newport RI.

I love Fluke.  I've only been to the bar, where I've enjoyed many wines by the glass and wonderful tapas.  I love the Chorizo with peppers and onions, and the chimichurri chicken with yogurt sauce.   The view of the harbor is nice, and the bartender I had several times was always friendly and helpful.  I can't wait to go back this summer.

Well....nice people there, I got a good scratch behind the ears. And, a great view too, but why would I want to look at the ocean and not squirrels?  Seriously, I didn't see a single squirrel.

Here's the rub...and, it's all about the rub. Three course meal = 2.5 hours. I was drooling buckets. Believe, me, I was sitting very pretty and know at home that I would've been served MUCH faster. I would've rolled over if I thought it would help.

Great place to meet for cocktails. You should definately have a mojito there.  The bar and the decor are fabulous and it's not over priced like everything else on the warf.  Really Great!!

I went to Fluke with a small group of people (about 10), and as far as I could tell, everyone had a really great time.  They have a decent selection of wine by the glass, a good balance of surf vs. turf (and it's hard to keep that balance in Newport), and the food is both good and reasonably priced.

I had the duck, and loved it.  They somehow managed to get the duck to taste like it had been barbequed in the smoky Southern style, while preserving the rich taste typical to duck.  One of my fellow diners had the lobster, which was done very minimally (lobster + butter, nothing else), which is usually the best approach.  Hard to find anything to improve fresh-caught lobster.

Everyone had a great time, and the staff was wonderful.  Great food + great service + reasonable price is 5 stars any day of the week.

Great new bar/restaurant on the Wharf, this place has the best cocktails ever and their Tapas menu is fabulous. A really great meeting place, stunning decor and happy atmosphere. Check it out if your in town.
